A BILLION PENNIES

A Billion Pennies is all about celebrating the incredible legacy of Patrick Healy Brice, a proud University of Dayton Flyer from the class of 2000. We’re on a mission to raise funds that give high school students the chance to experience the top-notch education and unforgettable life Pat loved so much at UD. This endowment helps support the next generation of leaders, dreamers, and changemakers—keeping Pat’s spirit of generosity, humor, and curiosity alive.

WHY A BILLION PENNIES?

Trader by day, comedian by night—Pat Brice had a way of blending sharp wit with a knack for numbers. Fresh out of UD, Pat landed a finance gig at CBOT/CME while diving headfirst into the Chicago comedy scene. One of his funniest bits came from a real-life moment during a job interview when he was asked, “How many pennies could fit in this room?”

Pat’s quick answer? “I don't know... A billion?”

About Pat

Pat Brice was one of a kind. An amazing comic and a true Chicago guy, he lit up every room he walked into. Pat grew up in Bridgeport, went to Saint Ignatius High School, and graduated from the University of Dayton. He was also a die-hard White Sox fan—he had jokes, heart, and loyalty in spades.

Pat was known as one of the best comedians in Chicago during his time, and his humor still brings smiles to those who knew him. Sadly, he passed away July 15, 2007, just before his 30th birthday.

To honor Pat’s legacy, we’re raising money to send kids to college—helping others chase their dreams just like Pat chased his.
